Cheese 202: & Wine & Wine & Cheese OUTDOORS

  • Second Mouse Cheese Shop 357 Manville Road Pleasantville United States (map)

Rarely are two provisions so intertwined, so intensely studied, so varied. and so very popular. Cheese & Wine, Wine & Cheese - whichever’s your preference, it’s understood that they belong together. Wine enhances the flavor of cheese, and cheese enriches the oenophile’s experience. There are a million winning combinations, but why? What do wine and cheese have in common? How does their chemistry become magic? We’ll explore the difference between two white wines and two red wines, pairing them alongside six individual cheeses to explore this intricate and mysterious gastronomical universe of terroir, fermentation, practicality and universal appeal.

This class will be taught by Ivy, Second Mouse Cheese Shop’s Founder & Owner, as well as Wine Specialist Kameron Schleifer. After 20 years in the restaurant industry, notably as a sommelier at Michelin starred Del Posto and Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Kameron joined Skurnik Wines as a Wine and Spirits Consultant, representing upwards of 500, largely independently owned and operated estates. (“I love the idea of exploring new corners of the world through their cuisine. I am also one of Ivy’s happiest customers,” says Kameron.)

Enrollment is limited in the interest of everyone’s safety, and we intend to hold this class outdoors. If Mother Nature is displeased, we will bring the class inside Second Mouse Cheese Shop, and tables will be spaced at minimum six feet apart.
